Who Qualifies for Funding?

WIOA and state grants are designed to help a wide range of Americans enter or re-enter the workforce. You may qualify if you fall into any of these groups.

1

Unemployed or Recently Laid Off

Dislocated workers — including those who lost jobs due to layoffs, plant closures, or restructuring — are a priority group for WIOA funding.

2

Employed but Seeking Better Opportunities

Working adults who are underemployed or earning low wages may qualify for grants that support upskilling and career advancement.

3

Veterans & Military Spouses

Special funding priority is given to veterans transitioning to civilian careers, along with dedicated programs for military family members.

4

Youth (Ages 16–24)

Young adults facing barriers to employment — including those not enrolled in school — can access WIOA's Youth Program for funded training.

Common Questions

Answers to What You're Wondering

Is this really free? Do I need to repay the grant?

Yes — WIOA funding and state grants are not loans. They are government-funded grants for workforce development. You do not repay them as long as you complete the program requirements.

How long does the eligibility check take?

The initial check takes under 3 minutes. A funding advisor will follow up with you within 1 business day to walk through your specific options in detail.

What is WIOA and who administers it?

The Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act is a federal law that funds job training across the US. It's administered locally through American Job Centers (AJCs), which coordinate your funding and enrollment.

What is ETPL and why does it matter?

The Eligible Training Provider List is a state-maintained registry of approved training institutions. Colleges on the ETPL can accept government workforce funds directly — making ed2go-partnered ETPL colleges the key to accessing your grant.

What courses can I take with funding?

Through our ed2go partnership, you can access hundreds of professional and career-focused courses — including IT, healthcare, business, project management, data, and more — all online and self-paced.

Can I qualify if I'm currently employed?

Yes. Low-wage and underemployed workers are specifically included in WIOA eligibility criteria. Our advisor will assess your income and employment situation to identify the right funding pathway for you.
